I have lived on the outskirts of Marden Village for 20 years, in a small , peaceful hamlet. Over those years, I have enjoyed watching the changing seasons in the surrounding fields, the sheep with their lambs, the grain harvest, the Autumn colours, blackberries in the hedgerows.. I’ve enjoyed long walks around orchards and fields with my dogs, and quiet rides along country lanes on my horses. I have enjoyed evenings out at pubs and restaurants in the village, and use the shops, post office and petrol station frequently. I feel now that all this could change... that the single Track lane I live on will become a “rat run” for those driving from the “Garden Village” to Staplehurst. The peace and tranquillity will be spoilt by builders and contractors, earth movers and lorries. Followed by light pollution from the many houses with their street lights, ... no more admiring a starry sky...watching the bats flitting around in the evening. With the increased traffic it will not be safe to walk dogs or ride horses around the lanes any longer, and views of the changing seasons will be replaced by views of rooftops and houses. What sort of strain will this amount of extra people put on a village like ours? who knows.. not sure I want to find out. What right have they to spoil the lives of so many people for greed?
