KCC Local Elections – Lottie Parfitt-Reid
Marden Planning Opposition Group (MPOG), have received a statement from the Conservative party’s local Kent County Council (KCC) election candidate for Maidstone Rural South Division, Lottie Parfitt-Reid, which with permission, we will relay. This is a statement for the Kent County Council election on Thursday 6th May 2021. Please be aware that this is a different separate election/ballot paper from the Maidstone Borough Council election, both are held on the same day.
I live here in Marden with my family. It’s a special place and I will fight to keep it special.
If elected to KCC, I will oppose the overdevelopment of our village. That starts with opposing any plan to swamp Marden with 2,000 more houses north of the railway line.
Everyone I speak with tells me the same. Such development would put an untenable burden on our already creaking infrastructure.
It would exacerbate our flooding & drainage issues as well as wreck wildlife habitats and diminish our biodiversity.
And it would destroy the essential character of our village.
That is why I will oppose this and fight instead for the sort of catchup in facilities & public services our village now needs.
